Valaria Femina is a pseudonym I’ve chosen for myself, a survivor of sexual assault who is advocating for others who have been victimized by this terrible form of assault. She represents three ideals of a woman who has healed from sexual assault: strength, bravery, and health – both mental and physical.
As I’ve gone through my healing journey, I’ve found a lot of friends with common denominators that have lasted for years or decades following a sexual assault, including poor self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-love, while having heightened self-blame, doubt, guilt, and shame. They did nothing wrong, but have had this burden placed on them by their attacker.
